Mexican Tortas "De la Chingada"

Artisan bread grilled on the plancha, guacamole, corn tortilla chips and the protein you choose. Authentic Mexican tortas in Puente Largo, Bogotá.

The authentic Mexican torta

The torta is the quintessential Mexican sandwich: artisan bread (telera or bolillo) grilled on the plancha, spread with guacamole, protein cooked to order, and the toppings each filling calls for. At Amor al Taco we call them "Tortas de la Chingada" — because they're big, intense, and honest. (In Mexican slang, "de la chingada" means "incredibly good" or "no-holds-barred" — it's a culinary compliment, not a curse word.)

Every torta comes with guacamole, red salsa and corn tortilla chips. Bread crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, served warm. It weighs what it should weigh.

Why do we call it "torta de la chingada"?

"De la chingada" is colloquial Mexican slang meaning "incredibly good", "intense", "no-holds-barred". It is not a curse word in this context — it is a culinary compliment. A "torta de la chingada" is a torta that knocks you out, that makes you close your eyes at the first bite. And that's exactly what we're after.
